IBERO WILL HOST ANNUAL HIV TESTING DAY IN RESPONSE TO DISTURBING STATISTIC: OUTSIDE OF NEW YORK CITY, ROCHESTER HAS THE SECOND HIGHEST NUMBER OF HIV/AIDS CASES
HIV/Aids remains a threat in Rochester and across the state, especially for the Latino and African-American communities that have recorded the highest numbers of cases in recent studies. Outside of New York City, Rochester is the city with the second highest number of HIV/AIDS cases, and the state of NY has been found to have the most AIDS cases in the nation. 25 percent of individuals are unaware they are infected.
This Thursday, July 27th from 11am to 3pm at Don Samuel Torres Park at 70 Oakman Street (corner of North Clinton and Oakman St), Ibero will provide lunch and free HIV testing for the Rochester community at its annual testing day.
Registration and the community fair will kick off the day, followed by lunch and free HIV testing for any interested individuals. Staff and health professionals will be on-site to discuss prevention, living with HIV/AIDS, or any concerns that attendees may have. All testing and information is confidential.
Everyone is invited to attend and join Ibero and the Rochester community this Thursday to learn about how we can all fight the HIV/AIDS epidemic together.
If you plan to attend, please confirm your attendance by emailing Nathalia.Martinez-Bliss@iaal.org. An RSVP is not required. For more information, call 474-8397.
